Buganda Samfunnet in Norway to Hold Committee Elections on September 12
NORWAY — Buganda Samfunnet i Norway is set to hold its committee elections on September 12, 2026, in an election expected to play an important role in determining the organization’s leadership and priorities for the coming period.
The organization brings together Baganda and friends of Buganda living in Norway, providing a platform for members to maintain their cultural identity, strengthen community ties and promote the heritage and values associated with Buganda.
The forthcoming elections will give eligible members an opportunity to participate in the selection of the organization’s committee. The committee is responsible for providing leadership and coordinating activities aimed at serving the interests of the wider Buganda community in Norway.
As the organization prepares for the elections, outgoing chairman Omuk. Muweesi Hannington has urged members and people from all backgrounds to remain connected to their roots and preserve their cultural heritage, regardless of where they live.
“We should always remember where we came from and never forget our culture. Culture is what makes us who we are,” said Omuk. Muweesi Hannington.
His message highlights the importance of cultural identity and heritage, particularly for communities living outside their countries of origin. For Baganda living in Norway, maintaining links to Buganda’s traditions and values can provide an important connection between generations and help ensure that cultural heritage continues to be passed on.
The organization also serves as a social platform where Baganda and friends of Buganda can meet, share experiences, build relationships and support one another while living in Norway.
The committee elections come at an important time for Buganda Samfunnet i Norway as it looks toward the future and seeks to strengthen participation and engagement among its members.
Members are expected to use the election as an opportunity to consider the candidates, their leadership qualities and their vision for the organization before casting their votes.
